Dust Free Hardwood Floor Sanding
Traditional hardwood floor sanding is typically an extremely dusty process and a potential health risk to you.
We use one of the newest “Dustless Sanding Systems” in the market today. Is it 100% Dustless? No. Is it better than a cloth bag tied to the sander, absolutely. Your home will not be the cleanup mess that used to be associated with standard sanding methods. The only truly dustless sanding I know of is wet sanding where the material being removed is mixed with water and carried away. Wet sanding doesn’t work well with wood or in homes.
When wood or finish is sanded what is created is dust, period. Elvis Hardwood Flooring’s Dustless Sanding Systems keeps most of the dust from getting into the air. The advantage with our Dustless Sanding System is the Vortex created at the belt sanding machine that forces the dust particles into a ribbon that can be moved more efficiently through the hose than a cloud of dust.
Dust and Debris: If your floors are being sanded & finished on site, you need to be prepared for some noise and disruption. Although we use the “Oneida Dustless System” there will still be some dust to deal with, so you may want to cover or remove items that you want to keep dust free. Our system removes most of the sanding dust but not all. Of course, newly installed factory finished floors will not need sanding onsite; but the installation process will create some dust and debris. B&G Hardwood Flooring
Finishing: When your floors are ready to have finish applied, be sure you know what type of finish is being used, and that you like the finish sheen. If you don’t like shiny finishes, you may want a flat matte finish, so be sure you have selected the finish you expect. Things will move very quickly once the finish process begins. Because this is a critical phase, when the finish is being applied to your floors, you will have no access to the room until the finish is completely dried and has had time to cure.
The time required will vary depending on the type of finish being used, humidity levels, and temperature. Regardless, pets should be contained and all family members should be kept out of the room for the duration. We will let you know exactly when you can walk on the floors and when furniture can be put back into place.
Overall the dustless hardwood floor sanding solution is much better to the alternative and we like to think that it does make a huge difference to the clean-up operation afterwards and more importantly the quality of the air in the house.
